On Our Board
Metaphorically we can compare the Spectrum Study Group to a bee hive, where everybody's contribution is a given. We work cohesively under the extensive experience of our advisory board and the Charter Committee members.
Advisory Board
Anu Aga
Mrs. Anu Aga retired as the Thermax Chairperson in 2004 and from the Thermax Board in 2018. She is focusing on social causes and is closely associated with the Thermax Foundation.
She is keenly involved with NGOs – ‘Akanksha’ and ‘Teach for India’, which promote education for the underprivileged.
She writes extensively and gives talks about corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, role of women, education and secularism.
Arnavaz Damania
Chhatrapati award winner Arnavaz Damania, an icon in the world of sports, where many laurels came her way. Arnavaz being a state player, she later became president of Women’s Hockey Association of Maharashtra for 26 years. She was also president of the Indian Women’s hockey Federation for 5 yrs, tournament director in Hiroshima Asian Games 1994 and Asian Games India in 1982. She was invited to judge the IHF Olympic games twice in Barcelona and Sidney. She was Chief de Mission of the Indian contingent at the Asian Games, Beijing.
She received the entrepreneur award for starting The Gazelle Health and Spa beauty Parlour in 1980.
She founded an NGO called ‘Connecting’ for prevention of Suicide in 2005, a helpline with trained volunteers, helping school children with trained peers, awareness in slums, basti, burns wards in hospitals etc. She has created her niche in various circles with her reaching out projects and relentless effort to bring solace to people’s lives.
Jaya Firodia
Dr (Mrs) Jaya Firodia is an eminent paediatrician of Pune. She obtained her post-graduation from London. From 1971 to 1980, she worked as honorary paediatrician in the Sane Guruji Hospital, founded on the principals of the famous freedom fighter Sane Guruji.
From 1983- 1995 she conducted yearly health check-ups for over one thousand students of Symbiosis school Pune. In 1994 she launched “ASHA- TARA” Rural maternal and children health care project under Abhijaat Trust. More than 18000 children and 2000 women received free medical check-up under this project. She is running the Sanskar Kendra Dispensary which provides free medical services for slum children since the year 2000.
Women issues are very close to Dr Firodia’s heart, she chaired the national conference on women’s health in 2015. She is the current chairperson for the NGO “Children’s Future India” She is married to industrialist Arun Firodia (Chairman Kinetic group of companies), and is on the board of a number of group companies.
Sabina Sanghvi
Sabina Sanghvi is a multifaceted dynamic personality synonymous with our very own city of Pune.
She has championed many social causes, with special emphasis on women empowerment, with an illustrious career spanning over four decades. She has been a key player in the launch of the Pune editions of Indian Express, Loksatta, Midday and Radio One channel. Till recently she has been the Business cluster Director in Pune, Kolkata and Chennai.
She is on the committee and boards of many prestigious organisations.
Dr. Himanshu Kulkarni
Dr. Himanshu Kulkarni is the executive director and secretary at Advance Centre for
Water Resources Development and Management (ACWADAM), Pune. A Not-for-
Profit knowledge institution and think-tank working on groundwater since 1998. He is
a hydrogeologist by qualification has, working on aquifers and groundwater across
India’s diverse groundwater typology for more than 35 years . He has been a
CSIR(Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) scholar, UNESCO scholar and a
Fulbright Fellow at different times of his career.
He has been actively involved in the advocacy for stronger programmes on
groundwater management in India, through his inputs, more recently as Chairman,
Working Group on Sustainable Groundwater Management for India’s 12th Five Year
Plan.
In his words, ‘The science of groundwater is not only about hydrology; it’s sociology,
psychology, politics, economics and ecology as well.’
He has published many articles in various journals across the globe on this subject
as well as co-authored many books. He is a distinguished Jury of the FICCI Water
Awards.
Malati Kalmadi
Malati Kalmadi, humility and dedication being her strength, has made it her life’s
mission to create a friendly, non-threatening and transparent environment in schools
for the children and build institutes on corner stone of trust, faith and love.
As a Trustee of Kannada Sangha that runs the Kaveri Group of Institutes,has kept
herself abreast with latest research in this filed and implements them suitably. Not
restricting herself to only teachers , schools and children, she has taken a step
further and involved the fourth pillar -The Parents. She launched the Mindful
Parenting Programme where they are trained to strengthen their own pro-social
characteristics and become role model for their children.
The benefits of her work has touched the lives of children with learning disabilities as
director of the Anjali Morris Foundation. A cardinal truth learnt in her childhood that
‘Every child is good, every child is different, every child is special, every child is
unique and every child has potential ,’ has prodded her to start a foundation Kaveri
Gifted Education and Research Centre, a one of a kind institute where children with
high ability, beyond academics, are nurtured and mentored to hone their skill.
